Health Resource Centre Borrowing Privileges
By signing your registration card to borrow materials you acknowledge and agree to abide by these "Borrowing Privileges" associated with the BCANDS Resource Centre. Be sure you are familiar with these guidelines prior to registering.
Who qualifies to borrow materials?
To borrow from our collection, you must be of First Nations/Aboriginal descent or serve First Nations/Aboriginal clients. You must also be employed, and live and work within B.C.
Your signature is required and serves as consent to the conditions mentioned here. [ get a registration form here ]
Book in advance!
Because of high demand, please allow 2 - 4 weeks from the time you submit your request to receive the material. This allows for confirming bookings and shipping of the material.
How to borrow material
A maximum of 12 items can be borrowed at one time. You can rnake your requests by fax, mail, phone, or email. To place your order use the Order Request Form. You can also search and order online through the Athena library system.
*Note: All orders are completed on a first come, first serve basis. As the amount of requests we receive is unpredictable, some orders may require more time. We make every effort to fill your order as soon as possible. If you have an event, include the date of the event so we can factor that into the shipping time.
Due date
The Due date is included in the correspondence enclosed with your order. Please ensure the materials are returned on time. All materials are in high demand and one late return affects the plans of others requesting the material.
Loan period & extensions
Loan periods are one month. Extensions can be arranged in advance of the due date, but only if the material has not been requested by someone else. Contact the Resource Centre to request a loan extension if necessary.
Shipping
All materials are sent by a trackable courier service and are to be returned by the same means. For $1.00 you can buy a 'Proof of Delivery' sticker from your local Canada Post Outlet.
lf you live or work in the Victoria area, you may also pick up and drop off your material. This will give you an opportunity to visit and see what's new and ensure the materials are safely returned.
Keep the packing that the material was received in, so you can return the material in the same way it was delivered. *Note: Never use envelopes filled with shredded paper or powder insulated material! They tear in
shipping and can damage tapes & cassettes. Plus, on some orders, regular envelopes do not provide sufficient protection from damage.
Liability
As the registered borrower you are liable for the material(s) you borrow. If any material that is, lost, damaged or nonretumed, a replacement cost will be determined by BCANDS management and you will be liable for that amount and notified accordingly.
Under no circumstances should you, as the borrower, lend the material to anyone else.
To help us maintain a professional, effective and efficient program, please abide by the guidelines. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated. BCANDS management.
We are always glad to hear from you and discuss your ideas,
