Employment, Benefits, Education & Health Services

To further fulfill BCANDS' mandate "to promote the betterment of aboriginal people with disabilities," we announced in April 2003 a new program to put BCANDS in direct contact with people across B.C. and Canada, and complement the BCANDS Resource Centre's service of providing books, videos, pamphlets, posters and more.

National Information & Referral Service on Aboriginal Disability Issues

photo of Jim FranklinJim Franklin, our BCANDS Advocate, will provide information and make referrals for Aboriginal persons with disabilities (First Nations, Métis and Inuit, on or off reserve). His information database includes access to employment, training, and other programs for people with disabilities, and general information on disability and related health issues.

If you can't find information, or you have found too much information, or you have been turned down for a service you need, Jim may be able to help you. As well as providing information, he can make calls on your behalf to people who may be able to help you get what you need.
